There are many organisations in Africa set up to host young volunteers from the global North. The reverse travel-route for young people from Africa is less well trodden. "Reverse" is a pilot project initiated by "Engagement Global" to address the gap. In 2012, a programme was launched to host young volunteers from Asia and Africa in Germany as guests of local NGOs. The results of such an initiative could help to form understanding and practice in a broad public what "gerechte Entwicklung" or equitable development will mean in the future.
In this context, radio continental drift was invited to run a workshop on the opportunities of expanded and participatory forms of radio ("Slow Broadcast") and oral history, and its potentials towards a more inclusive media, open society and politics. The brief interviews showcased here were made by participants as part of the 90 minutes workshop.
